Continue ShoppingThis month's theme for the Quilt Block Mania blocks is "Rain". A simple enough subject but a challenging quilt block. I mean, other than raindrops falling, what's so interesting about rain?
After thinking it over for awhile, I realized it's not the visual of the rain falling that's so very exciting, but rather the natural effects of rain itself. How awesome is it that the atmosphere causes the water vapor to cling to tiny particles of dirt floating around until it's big enough to fall to the ground where it waters plants and fills streams, etc. to both clean up the air and bring life to the earth all at once.
I know that too much rain, especially all at once, can be destructive (I live in Florida!) but I chose to focus on the life giving aspects of rain this time. I encourage you to dig into your scrap bag and use up those funny little pieces to make interesting raindrops of various sizes and to use them to shape into flowers as well, because, after all, we need the rain to enjoy the flowers.

You have designed a simple, minimalist block and left the details of complexity up to the individual maker. I love it. Thank you.
